General
information
- 1816: the plant was launched. Over just one construction season, 4 silver smelting furnaces were built, and on 15 November the first batch of enriched silver concentrate was produced.
- 1826: the first blast furnace was fired at the Guryevsk plant. A year later, the bloomery factory was built. Thus, the production of iron products for industry and agriculture began.
- 1840: the iron-making department supplanted the silver-smelting department, and the Guryevsk Metallurgical Plant became a ferrous metallurgy enterprise - the only one in Western Siberia.
- 1848: the production of Damascus steel using Pavel Anosov's technology was launched. The products of the plant were exhibited at the World Exhibition in London and received high awards.
- 1860: the first mechanical factory in the East of Russia was put into operation: steam engines with a capacity of up to 100 horsepower, as well as drilling, turning and other machines were produced.
- 1921: the construction of the railway line was completed.
- 1922: the blast furnace was restored, and the first cast iron in Russia was obtained. It was smelted using nothing but coal and used to make a souvenir Vladimir Lenin, which has since been kept in the Kremlin.
- 1924: the 5-ton open-hearth furnace was built, and the first open-hearth steel in Siberia was produced.
- 1925: the first rolled products were manufactured at the Guryevsk plant, and the metallurgical cycle at the enterprise became full.
- 1929: the plant became a construction site for the Kuznetsk Metallurgical Plant. To provide the new enterprise with personnel, the industrial training school was opened at the Guryevsk Metallurgical Plant.
- 1931: the second open-hearth furnace was built at the Guryevsk Metallurgical Plant.
- 1932: the bolt rivet shop was built.
- 1933: the production of steel grinding balls started.
- 1938: the production of beds was laucnhed at the Guryevsk Metallurgical Plant, and a bed workshop was built.
- 1939: the slitting lines shop and the consumer goods workshop were put into operation.
- 1941: during the war years, the most complex types of shaped rolled products for the aviation industry were produced, metal for weapons was cast, mine bodies, trench furnaces, and army beds were made at the Guryevsk Plant.
- 1945-1965: mechanization of labor-intensive processes was carried out mainly using the plant's own resources.
- 1965-1966: the first reconstruction of the open-hearth shop was completed.
- 1966: the Guryevsk Metallurgical Plant was named after Mikhail Konstantinovich Kurako.
- 1970-1978: the rolling mill was reconstructed.
- 1993: a new ball rolling shop was built.
- 1997-2004: the second reconstruction of the open-hearth shop was completed.
- 2005-2007: the technology for smelting chromium and low-alloy steel grades and the technology for the production of balls of increased hardness, exceeding the existing Russian GOST standard requirements, were developed.
- 2008-2009: the tempering furnace was put into operation, the production of steel grinding balls of increased volumetric hardness, exceeding the requirements of the Russian GOST standard, was launched. The open-hearth furnace No. 1 was modernized, as a result of which its capacity was expanded, and the productivity increased to 110,000 tons of liquid steel per year.
- 2010: the output of metal products was increased by 2.3 times, and record production indicators had been achieved over the past few years. The production of rolled products with a cutting length of 11.7 meters was improved to meet the modern Russian building standards.
- 2011: the company managed to keep the production volumes of 2010. A large-scale reconstruction of the ball rolling complex No. 2 was carried out, during which a second stage of hardening was installed. As a result of those improvements, the enterprise gained the opportunity to increase the production of steel grinding balls by 20%.
- 2012: the modernization of the ball rolling complex No. 1 was carried out. In the course of the work, the internal space of the heating furnace was expanded, which allowed increasing the amount of planted metal. At the same time, its productivity increased, especially in the production of balls of large diameter - from 70 to 120 mm. This technical solution allowed increasing the heating time of the workpiece for the production of balls with a diameter of 30 to 60 mm, which improves the structure of low-alloyed metal.
- 2021: in February, the 6,000,000th ton of steel grinding balls was produced, its production having been recorded at the enterprise since 1938. In April, the 10,000,000th ton of open-hearth steel was produced.
Today 16% -23% of mineral raw materials in Russia and the CIS are crushed with balls produced in Guryevsk. A wide range of these products allows mining, cement and other enterprises to set the optimal parameters for the operation of mills at all stages of grinding. The Guryevsk Metallurgical Plant, one of the few in Russia, produces balls with a diameter of 25 mm to be used in the gold mining industry.
The reliability and uninterrupted functioning of the main production units of the Guryevsk Metallurgical Plant is ensured by a technically equipped repair base, a developed energy sector, specialized laboratories for the analysis of raw materials and finished products, the work of the motor transport, railway workshops, and other auxiliary units.
